Drew Tulchin is Managing Consultant of Social Enterprise Associates, www.socialenterprise.net. He was recently in Mozambique, Africa for six weeks helping to launch a trade association for microfinance institutions. The work was funded by GTZ (the German bi-lateral donor agency) and implemented by GFA (the German consulting firm). The engagement included a market survey, membership assessment, feasibility study, business plan, and operational plan. In his time there, he also got to learn more about the country and its people.

The trip itself took place in 2007, with a second trip planned for later on in 2008. having missed the chance to get a 'live blog', we will print Drew's postings at daily intervals to get some of the feeling of being on the journey.
